irresistable
i was interested in this film for a couple of reasons... it was shot in melbourne and susan sarandon actually came all this way to shoot a movie. she hasnt been up to much it seems. anyways... it was sooooooooooooo made for TV. and the cast?? sam neill and emily blunt (devil wears prada) are in there too. and, basically everyone from georgie parker to bud tingwell... story goes like this ... some woman thinks she's being stalked and then turns out to be a stalker... nothing original at all people! what a let down. i like susie quite a bit but this nothing role made me lose some respect. what happened THELMA??? or was it LOUISE??? ... it seemed like they just tried for some sort of "jindabyne"-ish attempt at all those accents and stuff. tried too hard to be spooky and creepy and the ending i saw an effing mile away. totally not worth the bother. although, if you read the review on IMDB .... obviously i missed something. meh.
tenacious d - the pick of destiny
fucking jack black is a nutter. seriously. he has sooo much effing energy it makes me want to run an effing marathon. this movie was pretty entertaining ... much of the kudos goes to kyle and jack who just have such fun time making all those dum songs and swearing and all the crazy shit that goes on. they go on a quest to find the pick of destiny after realising that all the greatest bands have all used the same one. im not really a fan of rock music but all the freakin' songs were pretty kick ass. they are some seriously talented guys. and it was directed by that dude that sung that "WHATEVER!!!" song... and i thought he was a talentless jerk. HA. i was wrong.
KG: Sex is a crucial component to the Kyle Gass project. Now drop and give me one cock push-up.
JB: What's a cock push-up?
KG: What's a cock push-up. A cock push-up, my friend, is where you lay on your stomach and lift your self off the ground with nothing but your boner.
JB: No problem.
KG: The cock is a muscle, you gotta learn how to flex it. From now on I want you to do one cock push-up a day, everyday.
JB: It hurts my cock.
KG: Keep at it, you never know when you'll need to fuck your way out of a tight situation.
such dum dialogue but it was funny coz it's them.
bandidas
the fact that salma hayek is in it should be enough. if you need more it has penelope cruz. and it's a western. YEEE-HAAA!!! anyways... its not a serious movie and it no ways is it a great movie. it has so many cliches and dum jokes in it. i loved it. sooo cool. made me want to go to movieworld again. it was actually based on an idea by luc besson and then developed into this... there isnt much to it... after some bad shit happens to both the girls, they join up and become bank robbers. and in the beginning they suck and then they get good and then there is people after them and then there is a guy who helps them out and then it all starts going crazy. it had some good landscape photography by thierry arbogast who was responsible for 5th element... the music was pretty spot on with the whole western thang! the horses were cool and costumes were certainly designed for the 2 lead hotties. i certainly enjoyed my time in the wild west.
the fountain
mmm. a smidge disappointed in this one to be honest. although, it still had some very, very ouchy moments... both emotionally and PD-ally. i wont even begin to tell you what its about because most probably know its all over the place and about the tree of life and all that jazz.. technically this film was amazing. the camera work... angles and movements are repeated and the lighting are all pretty fucking awesome. all those gold-ish and blackness tones are really nice to watch. matthew libatique certainly has some major talent and obviously a good relationship with darren aronofsky. again, darren uses clint mansell to score his movie with subtle and haunting music... mmm... hugh jackman gives an excellent performance or performances and rachel weisz is also great as his dying lady. special effects are also quite impressive and the end when everything goes BAM is a perfect example of all the elements of the film come together. certainly a movie to watch if not once, then twice... maybe three times... definitely one to own.
