i havent seen this yet... and i have only just watched the trailer ... but this new movie directed by julie taymor (who was responsible for bringing lion king to the stage) looks like it will be soooooooo goood.



and for someone who doesnt listen/appreciate the beatles, this could be the very movie do make me do so!!!

but i finally watched a "masterpeice" of modern cinema!!! well, modern-ish.... yes, i can now say i have seen shichinin no samurai !!! yay for me. anyways ... it was pretty good... and that's all i will probably say about it.

anyways .. went shopping, or should i say tried to go shopping for clothes yesterday ... finding a good shirt that stands out did my head in. tried all the spots for something classy to wear and then i finally ventured into roger david or what i thought was a fucking sauna with clothing racks. shiiiit. the air conditioner musta been broken and as if it wasnt hot enough yesterday, they gotta pump warm waves of air into the store???

fuck ... i couldnt even be bothered to try on the shirt in the end as i had a "this is stupid" fit and walked out.

later on i went into "cooler" (temperature) shops and found myself finally buying a pair of black jeans! yes, call me emo, call me whatever else... i finally own slim, stretch denim jeans that are going to be altered to fit my dum short legs! yay!!!

went to the gym yesterday after my 2 week hiatus or lazy-atus ... it felt like i hadnt even left... all the jerks were there in full swing like my good old skinny fuck "red" i call him that coz he was wearing red singlet and was also red in the face. he was SOOOOO loud and fucking obnoxious i could hear him over the effing music on my iPod. then the lift afterwards he was going on and on about his fucking "bicep curls" or some shit ... i looked around at all the other people to see if they had the same face/reaction i did. they didnt. i felt like a loser and got off at the next floor and waited for the next one.

yeh, i think i have found something that will top steph's prediction for what will be the worst show coming up on aussie tv.

on my usual looking for new applications for game shows i was recently directed to view some samples ofr a new game show on channel 9 where you have to sing the lyrics to songs. you dont have to sing well... just right.



i dont think i have seen anything more painful in a reality/game show!!! for fucks sake. although, at least the fat one from n*sync seems to still be in the game hosting this absolute mess...

i didnt think i could watch the 5 minute clip but i got so into it ... so seduced and mesmerized it was hazardous to my health.

anyways... i hope you didnt enjoy that as much as i did.

p.s - where do they find these people??? sooooo energetic and hyper... its annoying!

another nova experience

maybe you've heard of this aussie film ... maybe you haven't ... but it's certainly one to watch!

fuck... i felt like a turd not knowing this shit happens right under our noses... and in MELBOURNE!!! arghhh.... the whole time ...

anyways ... this film, which has been independently financed (mostly) and now distributed is a powerful and often confronting look at the underground sex trafficking ring in australia.

now... this film had some things that really annoyed me... but mostly i was inspired and pretty amazed. like, for example... there's a detention centre in maribyrnong ... like, right around the corner from where i work... where people like these girls are kept!!! mmm don't like that!!!

basically this woman comes to MELB to look for her daughter that she thinks may have been caught up in prostitution. she meets ashley, average girl and they begin a journey that will change both of their lives...

let's review!

didnt like emma lung's attempt at being asian... i mean, she's half like me ... but the accent in the beginning was slightly offensive and cliche ... but in the end i was pretty convinced and i was actually very happy with her performance.

also ... asian drug dealer/bad guy???

saskia burmeister ... was bloody amazing!!! better than the others, i thought she really nailed the russian accent. certainly a LONG way since her role in "hating alison ashley"

putting all the bad/negative things aside for this movie... i was pretty moved ... (not as much as the 50 y.o audience i was watching it with who were groaning and gasping at every "shocking" element) and i actually felt pretty uplifted that there are some people in the australian industry who are making socially aware/got some balls kinda films!!!

it runs at a great pace and is not overly explicit in its detail. being shot on HD video, every detail is captured with authenticity. music is also impressive and emotional. and it's based on court transcripts and official documents! cant argue with that.

mm.... well, what can i say ... i was overall kinda let down by this film. dont get me wrong... the action sequences were ... extremely O.T.T and dum... but... technically this film totally annoyed me!!!

• out of sync dialogue
• out of focus camera work
• shaky
• bad, BAD additional dialogue recording...

the list could possibly go on and on ... but, i felt this film was totally rushed together in the edit.

points do go to the bunch of business men who were sitting behind me in crown casino cinemas that were woo-ing and cackling at EVERY SINGLE MOMENT of action and even at dum lines like...

"i just killed your asian hooker girlfriend... the one who kicks alot... man... they must be hard to find"

and then they'd say .... "Ooohhhh" (then chuckle and laugh)

but like, the white equivalent of saying "oh no you diiii'nt"

anyways ... lets just say my enjoyment of the film went up a few notches by listening to grown men get excited about...

well, my sickness is slowly coming down. im thinking its due to the amount of work i have to look forward to my body says "nup, ben's had enough now... he has to work like 40723 days in a row" ... mmm it's hardly that dramatic but i mean .. COME ON.

so, yeh, that's where i have been. working and working and working and working. not much going on there either... everyone it seems is sick and yucky and coughing and getting free coffee made up from the stand outside our store. im slowly noticing everyones addictions to it too. i still cant drink it ... it needs to have any kind of chocolate in there before it's consumed into my temple.

mmm my birthday is coming up ... yeh, im turning 21 and i have no freakin' clue as to what i am doing. this is making me slightly nervous as i have even started a viral marketing campaign to promote this event. and not knowing the ending is making me freak out... everyone in the store knows i made the posters... and everyone is pretty bloody certain that it's my birthday. HMM.. i guess everyone cannot resist the urge to spoil themselves.

mmm natalie's last day at work the other day ... she worked in accessories and was basically such a nutter ... anyways. ... long story short ... as a going away/leaving present i thought it would be a cool idea to get her a teddy bear from the build-a-bear shop...

anyways ... shorter version is it was hilarious dressing a bear, filling it with stuffing ... shopping for clothing ... (shoes, underpants, dress, hand-bag, ribbons...) the whole lot ... it was definitely an experience i wont forget ... ahahaha and then we got ice-cream cake...

ohhh man... i forgot how good this stuff was!

(one is currently on holidays) so, i can't really afford to be sick as we are just about to start having a MASSIVE sale that has some really good dvds in the mix. it's a buy 2 get 1 free kinda dealio so ... keep an eye out.
