i fucking hate it when you ...

  • stop in front of me in an aisle, walkway or path
  • talk loudly on your mobile phone
  • don't say please or thank-you
  • ignore me when i'm trying to pass
  • stop on the escalator

THE DOCTOR RETURNS

CATCH HIM ON THURSDAY NIGHT @ 8.30 ONLY ON ABC!!!

movies

irresistable

i was interested in this film for a couple of reasons... it was shot in melbourne and susan sarandon actually came all this way to shoot a movie. she hasnt been up to much it seems. anyways... it was sooooooooooooo made for TV. and the cast?? sam neill and emily blunt (devil wears prada) are in there too. and, basically everyone from georgie parker to bud tingwell... story goes like this ... some woman thinks she's being stalked and then turns out to be a stalker... nothing original at all people! what a let down. i like susie quite a bit but this nothing role made me lose some respect. what happened THELMA??? or was it LOUISE??? ... it seemed like they just tried for some sort of "jindabyne"-ish attempt at all those accents and stuff. tried too hard to be spooky and creepy and the ending i saw an effing mile away. totally not worth the bother. although, if you read the review on IMDB .... obviously i missed something. meh.

tenacious d - the pick of destiny

fucking jack black is a nutter. seriously. he has sooo much effing energy it makes me want to run an effing marathon. this movie was pretty entertaining ... much of the kudos goes to kyle and jack who just have such fun time making all those dum songs and swearing and all the crazy shit that goes on. they go on a quest to find the pick of destiny after realising that all the greatest bands have all used the same one. im not really a fan of rock music but all the freakin' songs were pretty kick ass. they are some seriously talented guys. and it was directed by that dude that sung that "WHATEVER!!!" song... and i thought he was a talentless jerk. HA. i was wrong.

KG: Sex is a crucial component to the Kyle Gass project. Now drop and give me one cock push-up.
JB: What's a cock push-up?
KG: What's a cock push-up. A cock push-up, my friend, is where you lay on your stomach and lift your self off the ground with nothing but your boner.
JB: No problem.
KG: The cock is a muscle, you gotta learn how to flex it. From now on I want you to do one cock push-up a day, everyday.
JB: It hurts my cock.
KG: Keep at it, you never know when you'll need to fuck your way out of a tight situation.

such dum dialogue but it was funny coz it's them.

bandidas

the fact that salma hayek is in it should be enough. if you need more it has penelope cruz. and it's a western. YEEE-HAAA!!! anyways... its not a serious movie and it no ways is it a great movie. it has so many cliches and dum jokes in it. i loved it. sooo cool. made me want to go to movieworld again. it was actually based on an idea by luc besson and then developed into this... there isnt much to it... after some bad shit happens to both the girls, they join up and become bank robbers. and in the beginning they suck and then they get good and then there is people after them and then there is a guy who helps them out and then it all starts going crazy. it had some good landscape photography by thierry arbogast who was responsible for 5th element... the music was pretty spot on with the whole western thang! the horses were cool and costumes were certainly designed for the 2 lead hotties. i certainly enjoyed my time in the wild west.

the fountain

mmm. a smidge disappointed in this one to be honest. although, it still had some very, very ouchy moments... both emotionally and PD-ally. i wont even begin to tell you what its about because most probably know its all over the place and about the tree of life and all that jazz.. technically this film was amazing. the camera work... angles and movements are repeated and the lighting are all pretty fucking awesome. all those gold-ish and blackness tones are really nice to watch. matthew libatique certainly has some major talent and obviously a good relationship with darren aronofsky. again, darren uses clint mansell to score his movie with subtle and haunting music... mmm... hugh jackman gives an excellent performance or performances and rachel weisz is also great as his dying lady. special effects are also quite impressive and the end when everything goes BAM is a perfect example of all the elements of the film come together. certainly a movie to watch if not once, then twice... maybe three times... definitely one to own.

another poster. i read somewhere they are showing bits of the film on the sides of buildings in the USA because of how many times it has already been illegally downloaded. but will prob do big bucks no matter what anyways.

a little about me

it's been a while since i actually wrote about me and what i have been doing, so i thought i would give it a go again.

HMM.

so, just been working and travelling across melbourne and watching movies and going to the gym. yess, i am still going and its been a little bit better than it had been in the past. although, still easily threatened when BIG MEN come near me with muscles and pecks and all that jazz, but if i stay outta they way then it's all good..

so this week i worked like nearly full time hours. it wasnt too bad!! although, the amount of people that ask me this question ...

  • can we price match to other stores?

this fucking shits me this...

YOU'VE SEEN IT SOMEWHERE ELSE? WHY NOT JUST GO BACK UPSTAIRS TO FUCKING BIG W AND GET IT THERE? WHY DO YOU WANT ME TO ORDER IT IN FOR YOU WHEN YOU CAN GET IT RIGHT NOW???

seriously... that really fucking shits me up the wall.

other really dum questions are just plain stupid.

  • where can i find Sin City?

ohhh... i dunno. in the reality TV section? for fucks sake. S!!! it starts with the letter S!

OPEN YOUR FUCKING EYES AND LOOK!!!

i know it's my job... but it just makes me so mad when people can't even be bothered trying to have a go.

meh... my attempts to write anything interesting have failed. talk later i guess. meh. oh, and i think i am getting sick.

movie reviews

the descent
i havent seen a good horror movie for some time and im glad i watched this one. most people have said good things about it... so, i was a little worried because usually i dont find things scary. ohh man... it's like they knew all my hates and fears and put them into 1 film. so anyways, a bunch of girls go cave diving after 1 of the lass'es husband dies in a car accident ... they decide to into a cave that is pretty safe .... but it all goes terribly wrong!! this film had it all... suspense... shocks... blood... good/decent enough characters ... i think it was the first horror film i have seen with an all female cast that didnt end up going down some sort of dumb lesbian/sexual shit... they were gals and they fucking meant business. if you see it, you'll know what i mean!!!anyways, it has all the good elements... PD and sound were both fantastic and made me so stressed as i hate dark small spaces... monsters and the idea of being underground with no escape. if i had seen this film before NZ cave exploring i definitely would have said a big fat NO!!!

ohhh this movie was soooo full on. people are fucked. this was directed by todd "in the bedroom" field... another slow-ish character movie focusing on relationships and small communities... i was so tense pretty much through the whole thing... now you all know this movie because of all the oscar buzz it caused due to all the performances... especially from jackie earle haley who plays the child paedophile ... some of his scenes are fucking incredible... i didnt ever think i would cry over someone like that in a movie... but you realise that he is human and has all his flaws and problems just like the rest of us. kate winslet gave another great performance as a woman who wants what she cant have and boy... the music and the cinematography are both great and the narration which i thought was a little dum in the beginning was good in the end... films like this love because its not all perfect and it doesnt work out in the end. sooo realistic!!

i soooooooooooo wanted to see this freakin thing at the cinema but it was during my period of "not having a job/being on fucking bread crumbs" lifestyle.. anyways... ohhh this was a very very good movie. and im very happy it won all the awards it did. 3 oscars and 54 other wins!!! so, set in spain and this young girl goes to live with some SCARY EVIL man who is her new father. basically sucked into a world of magic and myth and some fucking amazingly designed creatures thanks to josé quetglás & his team... all the performances are brilliant.. the young girl who carries the fucking film on her shoulders is soooo cute even though she is surrounded by so much awful shit. although i was expecting much more violence than was depicted, it was pretty "ouch worthy" ... good PD and cinematography is very very very good. thank god they won the oscar!!! mmm i dont know what else to say about this film because i am very late in seeing it so everyone else beat me to it... but i highly recommend this film!!!

errol morris does it again with another doco about some grim shit that happened in the world. so, its a little lesson, sorry, 11 lesssons with former sect. of defence robert s. mc namara about what he learnt during his time serving in the white house. it uses archive footage and a rather interesting camera technique to interview his subject. talking pretty calmy about his life, he gets pretty emotional about things... the death of JFK etc... its a good reflection of his life which im sure he fucking has some major regrets about... but it turns out to be an interesing and compelling story... and it won the oscar!! so, you may as well check it out if you like docos... and, good ol' errol seems to know what he is doing!

cité des enfants perdus, la

now we've all seen amelie like a million times and say how good it was... so, i thought i should take a trip and watch some of jean-pierre jeunet's earlier work! and so that brings me to this film. mmm he certainly has an EYE for PD. even though i thought this film wasnt as great as amelie and a v. long engagement it had its moments! ron pearlman speaking french was pretty interesting and the young girl in the film was pretty, pretty, pretty good. again, cinematograhy was excellent and the music by david lynch's pal was used effectively. the story is a little bit hard to understand at times... but all the quirky and weird characters made it a very enjoyable and interesting ride! if you looove your french cinema im sure you have seen this film... but if you want to watch something with a wild imagination this is definately the thing to see!!!

another film by iranian director abbas kiarostami ten takes place in 1 taxi cab is split into 10 (obviously) conversations at different points in their lives. this film was amazing.... i heard he likes to use non-professional actors and work with a very loose and improvised script. you wouldnt really know watching it... it is soooo perfect in every way. the first segment with her child is the most interesting opening i have seen in a while. 15 mins of continuous dialogue without any cuts. its a great insight into the lives of these women who most of us have no idea about. its such a simple idea and it is pretty cool that this film is able to be related to so easily. the hooker, the religious nut ... it has a good representation of women and a reflection of their stories. at times its suprisingly funny and others pretty frustrating (mostly with her son) ten is a very fine example of minimalistic film making at its peak!

who killed the electric car?

this doco was quite an interesting insight into what the eff happened when general motors built a tonne of these cars and then totally ripped them off the market. it's nothing really that exciting really... but they talk to quite a few people that had alot to do with the making and promoting of these cars that seemed soooo cool. it made me want to drive. pretty much blames a bunch of people for the death of the electric car and points fingers at who did what. there was 1 scene where a bunch of devotee's to the car staged a protest outside a parking lot in GM headquarters and fought until the last minute to get these cars back on the road. i thought it was a bit silly but at the same time a little emotional... these dudes totally loved and believed in that car... and it was pretty insane why they took them all away and shredded them all up! HMMM ... normal cars are the devil and oil is fucked up... thats what i took away from this film!

Police said two men let themselves into an occupied caravan in Bundaberg, about 11.30pm (AEST) on Monday.

They then attacked the 40-year-old male resident with a swordfish snout, described as cartilage with a row of serrated teeth, before fleeing.

The man was treated by paramedics for cuts to his back, hands and arms.

Police are investigating the attack.

7th Heaven

so lately there has been a record number of people staying under this roof.

ashley had/has 2 people staying over ... carol has been around and also stevens mother who had been here for the long weekend.
its hard to find some p&q sometimes!!!

anyways, im going to blog about steves mum, who is pretty funny.

i dont actually remember if i had met her before and i was worrying that it might be like getting a visit from the queen as peoples mothers are sometimes high maintenence, or maybe its just my nutter of a mother that gave me that impression ... ANYWAYS ... it turns out as long as steves mum had a TV she seems pretty happy. over her time here she visited the sites of melbourne and took steve shopping... she did like all the freakin' dishes like a real mother... i know, i was shocked to find that "some mothers do 'ave 'em" (em is the desired ability to clean) she also bought some washing detergent and put $20 into our "kitty" which i should have told her is a lie... or, at least was a lie until that money went in.

i also found out that she might have a small crush on childrens animation films. during her stay she watched not 1... but 2 animated features..

happy feet & finding nemo.

oh it was so cute!!!
anyways, she's gone now... i think steve's happy because he now has his new bed back!!!
although, its funny he managed to buy it just in time ... so his mother didnt have to sleep on the floor.

southland tales
