the other night we were in the city and hungry... nothing new there...

instead of the usual vietnamese/chinese/japanese affair we usually eat i thought maybe we should try the new italian place on swanston st! at first, we were a little hesitant because there were bogans.com everywhere outside... but after a little time we ventured up the stairs of what i was hoping to be an authentic italiano atmosphere...

walk up the stairs... see a big sign written in texta "CASH ONLY" ... i should've known by this stage it can mean one thing!!

asians are involved... and sure enough... there was one to greet us at the door. and then came our indian waitress...

now, dont get me wrong, im all up for cross cultured restaurants etc.. but when you can't actually make visual contact with any of the actual ethnicity of the italian community... it should set alarm bells ringing...

we are seated in an empty room, next door to the other room which

is slightly full... and tucked away in the corner.. the decor is nice, and they have tried to put up some nice photos of the food and the sights (ie - colleseum, fountains and general roman statues) on the walls...

and then the menu. i dont think i have ever seen such a blatant rip off of another menu!!!

la porchetta anyone??? even the pictures were identical!!!

so we order and hope for the best...

and ... NO DEAL... it totally shits me/makes me sad when you can honestly say you could have made better food than they serve.. and it would actually be cheaper... not even the soundtrack of disco hits (vengaboys, kylie etc) was worth the $$$ !!!

so, in protest... i decided that i would do a little graffiti to make up for the kinda shithouse meal/experience that was "menu italiano"

yeh... that tiny speck of red paper!!! that was meeeeee! i put it there... so if anyone ever goes there... maybe request the table in the other room in the corner next to the window... and you can tell me if it's still there!!

all in all it was a kinda funny experience... and the food... was... average... maybe a bigger serve and some more toppings on the 3 ingredient vegetarian pizza and i'll go back... some day!

in my constant battle with all the "hotties" of melbourne, i have decided i might need to step up my game and fight against them.

in other words.. spend more money on clothes and bitch/moan less about the fact that i have no good denim or a good jacket...

and... after my laura palmer shirt (which proved to be too much of a good thing... after it slipped from my fingers) i have decided that i am not going to wait any longer and have another chance of something hot and trendy get out of my reach...

CELINE - THE MOVIE

now for some strange reason this film wont be getting a theatrical release in australia...

there was so much i didnt know about celine... highlights include..

• getting hit by a car when she was v. young
• being told she is ugly on several occassions
• her "lucky" penny she puts into a shoe before every performance..
  
  AND...
  
• her falling in love with her manager who is 24 years her senior!!!

ohhhh it is sick. although, who am i to say... naaah.. it is sweet i guess.. it's just in the film when they kiss it is so weird and everything coz she is 20 and he is 44...

anyways... they are fuckin loaded and happy so whatever right?

god... work was an effin' killer... the wii fit system came out and as usual.. you never actually receive the stock until the day before... which means unpacking, pricing & taping all these effin boxes ready for the cuntstomers to buy buy buy...

lucky i had my trusty phone to take a couple of snaps of the day. the aim was to take a before and after photo of the storeroom to show the amount of shit and crap that is in there.. but what i didnt really take into consideration was that once some stock actually makes it way to the floor, more and more deliveries come in and then it pretty much looks like it did in the beginning.

ANYWAYS.. (my favourite word on this blog) ... here are the photos of what was an interesting and pretty, pretty, pretty exhausting day at the office.

now, when it became apparent that there was no more space in the store room to hold these bitches i had jokingly/kinda seriously suggested to the manager to get them all out on the floor and make a semi massive tower of them and then cover them with a tarp (or something like that) with a big sign saying WII FIT COMING SOON!! (wii fit, not world war 2 fit) ... i followed it up by saying that everyone loves something that is undercover... and people love a giant reveal... ala crying game - she was a man ... and sixth sense - he was a ghoul!!!

anyways... time went on and it was getting to the point where my idea was looking like a reality. and it was then that manager at the time (m.a.t.t - how clever am i???) said...

"yeh, come on.. let's do what he said..."

"FUCK YEH" i screamed...

so off i went and loaded these toys onto a trolley and wheeled them off...

sometimes i think i am destined to be in a managerial position

meeeeeee... proud as punch wrapping it all up!!!

and that is ... what they say in the industry.... A WRAP!

went to chopsticks again the other night and there is no doubt that this place is the best "value for money" asian eat station that i have ever been to..

seriously. it is amazing. there are soooooo many items on the menu and not being one to confuse the white people.. there are pictures of all the "essential" meals...

hainanese chicken
crispy chicken combo
vegetables & beancurd..
steamed dumplings

not only do they have hella good meals... but if you are lucky.. you are guaranteed a listen to the aladdin theme song that they play nearly every time i am there...



classic. and, enjoy the decor as you try and figure out which is your animal via the chinese birth year system.
anyways, i thought i would do a tribute to my fave little family run takeaway/restaurant...
