st kilda in the 70's

i managed to dust of the old tardis and travel back to the 70's and take some photos of what st. kilda beach looked like... i was quite amazed at the quality of these photos...

i took these on my phone which has proven to be quite handy... anyways, when i transfered them to the computer they look absolutely yucky and the colours are all washed out.

oh well... enjoy them wont you???

ikea ... trip no. 26

had the day off and had really nothing planned ... i needed to go anyway and have a look and carol needed a new bin and i was going to try and buy some bamboo to possibly try and have another go at keeping it alive... so off i went..

found a few good-ish items in freedom that were marked down... and then i went into k-mart for a "MASSIVE DVD SALE" which really was as about as massive as i am egyptian... but they had some awesome bargains ... mostly on stuff i already had ... found thin red line for 8 bucks so i was happy with that...

anyways... did the ikea thing and ended up with no bamboo (most of it was old and yucky) and then i reached the checkout... and what famous celebrity did i see???

cut to 9 months later i am laying in bed with carol watching some TV... the time is 10.30pm and we are enjoying a good cracking episode of nip/tuck when all of a sudden...

it is like nearly an hour from midnight and here they are carrying on like mentals still hammering away their dream home?

and by the way... i do remember a veeeeeery early blog post in which the mrs reno came over at about the same time to keep the noise down as she had to get up early in the morning...

the t-shirt of my dreams is giving me nightmares!

it has been some time since i first saw the hot guy walking along swanston st in the city... wearing what was the best thing i have seen in a while...


and then in the following days at work i was talking to sonia about this t-shirt i saw...

"oh my god.. i saw it too... i don't know what shop it is from, but it is on brunswick st"


so... fast forward at least 2 months later i am on brunswick st... doing some shopping.. and at the last minute before heading back into the city i come across this store that has 3 "alternative hotties" inside and no racks for about 5 metres in..

i thought to myself this was quite a distance to walk... and then feel like an ugly idiot when i realised that this wasn't the shop that "dream shirt" was in.. but i kept walking... i was brave. i smiled to the hottie with the amazing haircut behind the counter and went to the very back of the shop where i saw a few black and white prints...


by this time the 2 "customer hotties" had left and it was 1 on 1 with the assistant.. we made small talk and then i FOUND IT!!! casually i asked if i could try it on when really i was going to need to change my jeans...


cut to: dressing room 46 seconds later!!!


ohhhh the shirt and i finally found each other...!! i was soo happy... but the price... OUCH. it would have to be without question the most expensive shirt i have ever bought. but was it worth it?? i didn't know!!! i was sooo conflicted...

after getting back into my usual not-so-hot clothes i talked to the lass and she said they were not going to be printing my old pal laura palmer much longer and that that actual shirt was the last of the normal sizes...

so.. if anyone out there cares enough... i would like to know just how much you have paid for the clothing item of your dreams... i would be curious to know if there are other ludicrous purchases out there other than li-kims space clown shoes...

watched the final episodes of skins the other day... and... yeh, it was a little emotional. i didn't realise how attached to those kids i was and now that they are gone (gawwwn) it is strange.

someone said to me it's kinda like degrassi in the way it deals with all those "difficult" subject issues but doesn't sugarcoat them (ala marissa's alco stint in the OC) ... i tend to agree and think it is pretty much the new degrassi for the new hyper generation that loves the sex, the drugs and those awesome parties...

ooooh well... guess i gotta find some other kids to live my life through now.. any suggestions?

we decided to go to MOJO'S because we hadn't eaten it in a long time and they have never failed us before with the "unusual" pizza toppings and fresh ingredients...

WRONG!

the prickly pear was a DUD! it was like they threw all the odd/soon to be going off toppings onto the pizza and then had a kindergartner cut at it with a pair of safety scissors!

nooooo deal!

anyways.. and it is almost 16 hours later and i realised not only did we tip these bastards.. but they overcharged us by $10 !!!

ohhh... my head and pockets and stomach are all in pain!!!

the gayest thing i have done in my life..

and i am proud of it!

in this little bit of news that just came in...

series 3 of skins will be entirely re-cast! yep, that's right.. they are ditching the old crew for some new kids on the proverbial block...

booo... no more sid and casse... glad tony is going... but the hot gay??? michelle? yeh, i don't like this... but it certainly is an interesting and refreshing idea!

The creators of Skins are axing the entire cast when the hit teen series returns to E4 and Channel 4 next year.

Producers Bryan Elsley and Chris Clough, who hope to do a third and fourth series, plan to refresh the cast every two years.

Bryan said: "There are risks associated with dumping a cast, but we just did it. It's exciting - we never stand still and we can tell our stories in a new way."

A casting session held in Bristol last week attracted 1,500. A trial is also planned for London.

Bryan added: "The first year is about getting to know the kids, and the second allows us to explore their psyches a little more."
