THIS IS ENGLAND - REVIEW

off we went to see the latest film from director shane meadows.

man, this movie was soo good. authentic and realistic. funny and scary. sad and happy. mmm it had all the elements. based on experiences by the director himself, it follows the story of this young kid who after getting bullied meets a group of skinheads and makes friends with them. they start hanging out and eventually he becomes caught up in some BAAAD shit and then it pretty much hits the fan in the end.

the young kid, Thomas Turgoose who plays shaun is amazing. he's like 6 and he's swearing and able to understand and play along with all this intense shit. the other standout was Stephen Graham playing combo ... a messed up skinhead nutter, recently released from prison.

this film is totally grounded in the 80's. everything is soo real. the PD-o-meter was going off the charts in this film. costumes, music, houses... props... it's like watching a doco. crazy!

as i said, this film had some totally 'LOL' moments and then switched into fucking scary territory. powerful performances and a fascinating subject make THIS IS ENGLAND one of my favourite movies of the year!

high school musical 2 premiered on disney channel ... yes, i got all excited and totally gay for zac efron... it was a let down. i think i was expecting hairspray or something... high school 1 was alot better!

no, it wasnt a scrabble match or game... i finally did my taxes! yes, it was alot easier and less scarier than i thought! and i actually got some money back instead of paying!! YES!

the doctor says goodbye AGAIN and now even though i didnt watch any of this season i am sad he is gone! and the next ep... man, he crashes into the titanic! classic. anyways, another emo ending and some awesome jackets (ask li-kim) music, special fx & music... oohhh.. BBC!!!

recently at work, we have all been taken over by jonah and his fantastic use of the english language. to celebrate this ... i re-created the "dick-tation" tag by scribbling it on a piece of paper and stuck it on the wall of the store room.

and then manager (insert name here) came in.

it had to be taken down because it was in-appropriate.

so been working like lots lately... pretty much full time as everyone is on holidays... just thought i'd take this opportunity to write about all the dum bitches that shop at JB and the things i have to deal with.

(i know this is all the same stuff, but it is all i got)

-price matching.

now, this is probably my most hated of all questions. why dont they just go upstairs and get it from where they saw it from. the other day i had a guy wanting to match the price by 12 cents!!! fucking hell people. what is the world coming to when we are so lazy we cant walk back to target and pick it off the shelf. probably just wanting it from us because they are sold out.

recently i had this really fucking stuck up couple wanting a copy of CARS (apparently seen at safeway somewhere for $18??) ... anyways... they were so sure that the safeway here would have the same stock (we can only price match for direct competition) i rang to find out. we were closing and they werent bothered. after being on hold for about 5 minutes... i asked and the guy answered with a simple no we dont have that DVD.

sorry, they dont have it... i can't change the price.

oh come on... that's so lame. you can change it.

i havent seen this yet... and i have only just watched the trailer ... but this new movie directed by julie taymor (who was responsible for bringing lion king to the stage) looks like it will be soooooooo goood.



and for someone who doesnt listen/appreciate the beatles, this could be the very movie do make me do so!!!

but i finally watched a "masterpeice" of modern cinema!!! well, modern-ish.... yes, i can now say i have seen shichinin no samurai !!! yay for me. anyways ... it was pretty good... and that's all i will probably say about it.

anyways .. went shopping, or should i say tried to go shopping for clothes yesterday ... finding a good shirt that stands out did my head in. tried all the spots for something classy to wear and then i finally ventured into roger david or what i thought was a fucking sauna with clothing racks. shiiiit. the air conditioner musta been broken and as if it wasnt hot enough yesterday, they gotta pump warm waves of air into the store???

fuck ... i couldnt even be bothered to try on the shirt in the end as i had a "this is stupid" fit and walked out.

later on i went into "cooler" (temperature) shops and found myself finally buying a pair of black jeans! yes, call me emo, call me whatever else... i finally own slim, stretch denim jeans that are going to be altered to fit my dum short legs! yay!!!

went to the gym yesterday after my 2 week hiatus or lazy-atus ... it felt like i hadnt even left... all the jerks were there in full swing like my good old skinny fuck "red" i call him that coz he was wearing red singlet and was also red in the face. he was SOOOOO loud and fucking obnoxious i could hear him over the effing music on my iPod. then the lift afterwards he was going on and on about his fucking "bicep curls" or some shit ... i looked around at all the other people to see if they had the same face/reaction i did. they didnt. i felt like a loser and got off at the next floor and waited for the next one.
