... well, it's been a while since i last wrote some stories about work and the customers that i have had to deal with... the selected highlights include...

this man comes in to the store, and he seriously smelt like ... i really dont know how to describe it, he smells like semen, bleach, wet dog, smushed ants, burnt hair and piss all rolled into one... what does one do when dealing with such a dilemma?

so, i held my breathe for approximately 7 minutes while i served this man as he asked me this question...

- how do i cook this? (while holding a bag of pre-popped popcorn)

i didnt know what to say... i did my blank expression of "what the fuck" and then told him to stick them in a deep fryer.

24 - THE GAME.

yes, it's official... i am obsessed with a PS2 game. for obvious reasons. it is sooo cool. i am running around pretending to be bauer. and i have gotten NASTY. im all like, snipering the terrorists and killing and shooting the bad guys ... mostly asian and middle eastern of course... and i have figured out how to be invincible and have infinite ammo ... kinda cheating, but pretty realistic as the real jack bauer never dies and he never runs out of ammo.

in other news sarah K has gotten home after 11 days away. yeh... i dunno - she had fun, got a haircut, hung wit her peeps & family ... nothing really exciting to be honest. although, she did bring back bout 3 dozen anzac biscuits in these hardcore army like containers that looked like you could smuggle toxic powders & chemicals in... but they are YUMMM...

united 93

well... another movie off my list... united 93 is the first of the 9/11 movies that are coming out... basically based on the united airlines flight 93 that was meant to hit washington and the peeps on board fought back and ended up smashing the plane into a field...

anyways, the film was pretty powerful and full on... it really felt more like a documentary rather than a film... the use of hand-held camera work and casting pretty much unknown people and people that lived and worked around the tragedy ...

directed by paul greengrass who made "bloody sunday" & "bourne supremacy" does a really good job at just telling the story, not making it stylised or glorified at all... just basically telling the facts and keeping it real "dawg"

the film had some pretty "ouchy" moments, the audience was going "oohh" and "aww" when people got stabbed, and even though i had scene the footage of the planes hitting the trade center i still got a HUGE chill all through-out my body that lasted for a while..

the film ends quite suddenly but im glad it finished when it did... i really think it's a film everyone should see, powerful and moving and it's an excellent tribute to the people that died that day...

he asked me if we had a copy of "eating out" in the store... knowing this was a gay and lesbian film i said very quickly ... "nah, we actually have no "queer cinema" ... see-ya "

today at work i have watched about 17... no, make that 18 episodes of "family guy" at work and im struggling... i mean, i like it and all... but, that effing theme tune is killing me... arghhh... i have also been watching "genie from down under" on VHS from the library... and that is another theme tune that has been in my head... oh, the lyrics are so cool...

anyways, it's bringing back so many memories from childhood and it's suprising how funny it still is and how much i remember the storylines .... oh, it's gold. and filmed in werribee... how cool...

im soooo fucking hungry right now, my daily intake of food thus far includes a bottle of water and and boost chocolate bar...

but thank-god i finish work in about 30 mins and then im off to big chopstix where i will stuff my face with another meal the size of my head and then go home, watch a movie, then idol and eat cookies.

well, saturday night and the feeling was right ... get down, get deeper and down get down get deeper and down... saturday night! anyone else remember that song or is it just me? anyways... it was spice girls so i guess i would be the only one to remember that song...

but, for the second night in a row, it was time to be social... after a long shift @ work ... oh!!! hang on... rewind to yesterday..

so, as i left for work on the saturday, sarah and chris were still in bed... and i finish work @ 4pm and walk home with my salad roll and danish or something... and all i wanna do is crash on the couch and watch my tapes of the opening ceremony of the 2000 olympics ... (yeh, seriously what is wrong with me?) and, i get home and sarah yells out..

sarah and i and likim (stevie was working) went out with sarah and steph to vegie bar where i had a "kofta wrap" and it was average. i have no effing idea how steph says they are better than teriayki chicken from melb central japanese... COME ON!!!

so, a few drinks later back @ sarah's ... watching labrynth high-lights ... (which, seriously... who thinks bowie looks hot in that film... the teeth, and the PANTS? he looks like a homosexual tango dancing vampire that would stab you while having sex with you ala basic instinct or something) and we started to be stupid ... and, somehow we got talking about "rent" again and ended up dancing and singing to all the hits...

after we all scanned our heads in sarah's scanner/printer and several snaps later (which are on the way) we decided to go to this party we had been invited to earlier ... some lass' 21st that was taking place in an alley-way. i didnt really know much else, although, when we had walked past earlier i thought i had smelt some meat cooking and i saw a large cloud of smoke rising from the back area... li-kim and i were immediately excited!!

so we get there, walk down this fucking huge hallway and into the lounge room where someone has hooked up a live feed in the lounge of the courtyard outside... people are sitting around the tv watching ala big brother making bitchy comments about people outside! i thought it was soooo coool... and then i walked outside. seriously... it was like a grunge o.c party with this huge back terrace section leading into an alley-way with a DJ and couches and a BBQ! YESSS... i immediately checked it out but it wasn't on... meh... anyways, after sussing out the area i headed back to the gang where, guess what was waiting for me... A FUCKING KEG! jeeeeze.... i had hit the jackpot... hotties on patrol with the keg, writing names on our cups... (although, they werent red) but still... i was becoming an american frat boy. well, i was at least like, a few steps later... mmm highlights include....

GOLD!

now im at work after again only a few hours sleep, watching rent and wishing i was lying in the sun as it's a GOD DAMN BEAUTIFUL DAY! (bono style!)

" a new world "

the latest from terrance mallick, who gave us not that many films really... badlands... thin red line... and some others, and now, the re-telling of the pocahontas story ... already i was a little sceptical as effing colin farrel was in it (i really dont like him much... and after seeing his porno i dislike him even more) it was a really simple story basically, they move in and create a town and cause some shit and he falls in love with P and it's all really sweet and lovely. as it should be. the casting of the lass who plays P was great, she's an effing hottie and really talented as well... it was beautifully shot with the use of alot of steadicam shots through the forest and fields etc etc... and there was hardly any dialogue... using narration with collie's voice and then pocah's was really cool... the battle scenes were violent but done with grace and yeh... it was a good movie

so if you're wanting a lovely emo tale with some good performances and good music get this... it made me wanna go out into the wild and run around and fall in love and lay in fields and be all lovey ... hmm

" history of violence "

shhhiiitttt. this movie was awesome. it only goes for about 90 minutes but everything is wrapped up so tightly. ok, let's start with performances... viggo was great. he's all not aragorn like and all human like ... maria bello is another hottie on my list, and her willingness to show her gear is really evidence once again she's all for anything ie. "the cooler" ... the young son was a hottie and did a pretty good performance for his feature debut... ed harris, was creepy and good... mmm oh, and william hurt and his voice is cool and i loved it.. the violence was sooooo cool... i was all like, "and then he smashed his nose into his skull and blood sprayed everywhere" and sarah was all like "beeen! no.... not cool" but... mmm .... music by howard shore is good, atmospheric and moody ... script was tight and dialogue was goood... mmm what else... basically a really interesting film ... david croenberg was all like " yeh, we live our lives hoping not to encounter these acts of violence ... and we witness them and we cant help feel a little bit of joy and smiles when we see this happen to those who we fear" or something like that, i thought it was interesting ... he said it much better of course... oh, and the sex scene on the stairs! geeeeze... it was so hot! croney also said "sex and violence have always been a good mix for me... they go together well.. like bacon and eggs" that was a funny quote but it made me hungry for some toast and things...

in conclusion, great film, great performances and some sexy violence!!! FUCK YEAH!

in brazil in 2000 there was a punk that hijacked the bus ... and the whole world was watching! basically it tells the tale of santos or sante or santa or something and how he was wronged by the world after being arrested and put in jail for a robbery and his mother was murdered by police in front of him when he was 6... it basically documents the event ... talking to the police, the media, social workers, friends, family, hostages ... the whole gang really... it was a really interesting doco about this kid and how they handled the situation (which they didnt do very well) ... if you have 2 hours to spare and want to watch something depressing and raw, give it a go... it's not compulsary viewing but an interesting topic that i guess still has some issues that are not being dealt with over in the "city of god"

oh gosh... highly reccomended by chris, i thought i would watch it. seriously. so dum. i missed the whole point on it completely. why spend all that money on "ye olde" period production design and then make a dum comedy? mmm anyways, it had some good moments but mostly it was a waste of my precious time... i dunno... yeh, as i said, i was looking at it for something that it wasnt, but i guess it was okay... if it was meant to be dum then i guess it suceeded..

so, it's this HUGE ensemble cast and im expecting like, magnolia meets donnie darko and i didnt get anything like it... anyways, so it's about this troubled boy that kills a "retard" and basically goes to juvie to learn how effed up he is. it was such a dumb story and it had soooo many good actors in it... kevin spacey, don cheadle, ryan (i wrote you every day for a year) gosling, jena (im depressed in every movie) malone, chris (im typecast as a jock) klein, michelle (i deserved an oscar for brokeback) williams ... and many others... anyways, it was meant to be this controversial film and make you think and be all emo and stuff and i hated him coz he was looking like a dopey emo shit that clogs the steps of flinders st. station... and the ending didnt get me "talking" nor did it "move" or "shake" me to the core.

yeh, this is that film that was made my a 19 yr old with no training and is about suicide ... so, where do i start... i LOVE to LOVE teenage drama's set in school hours and this was noooo different. the style is very much like "elephant" by my old pal - gus van sant - but it is alot better... all of the characters are nothing new really, they are all pretty trademark - goth/freak who is gay, girl who is anno/bullemic, perfecto kid who has pushy father and the list goes on... the story just goes along the school day, with everything overlapping - characters and storylines and shown from different points of view (another of my fave gimmicks) - mmm im really jealous of this kid, in a way... he wrote this when he was 19 - but only after his freind commited suicide and left him a video diary about it ... 36 hours later this dude has a script and then gets all this financing from pretty much anywhere and makes this film.. it was an incredible effort for a first feature, and for him to be able to direct some of the scenes and get the performances from the actors (most of them just kids with no acting creds) was astounding... the music was good, and the cinematography and editing was all of a high standard ... in summary this is one of the bestest australian films of recent times ... and one that will have you thinking about (probably) afterwards...

so, she's gonna blow the pins and bust some blah blah blah ... another debut film from some american kid called ryan but spelt rian ... and it's a teen "noir" about some dude trying to find out who killed his girl ... basically sarah (imax) had talked bout this film heaps after seeing it in NYC and i was sooo excited about it... i wasnt let down... but it wasnt as fantastic as i was hoping it to be... the highlights were the performance from 3rd rock kid ... he is going to be something ... mmm sound design i thought was totally cool, the music and the effects with all the loudness and banging and punching and the running scene and oooohhh the gunshot in the drain was cool... i was all smiles when his head blew out the back... YAY... lost chicks accent was sucky, although she did okay running around half naked in "the hills have eyes" ... it was quite humorous in parts and it was dark in others, i really kinda got lost in the story ... (my sister, my daughter, my sister) and at the end i still dont really know what happened or why she was killed. but, meh... it really was a slick little film with some great moments... once you get around the lingo they speaking ...

ohhhh boy. what a dumb shocker. it really was really dumb. i thought, hey, this could be kinda cool they are like, acknowledging the movie and how it was a huge do-dah for the community and talking about all the losers who came to that place where they shot it and then ... yeh... basically, they are making out as if it real ... AGAIN ... after saying it is fake. ? anyways, a bunch of loo's and some goth chick head out where the bad shit went down and then they basically kill each other with witchy powers! "SOMEONE FUCKED WITH THIS VIDEO.... THIS NEVER HAPPENED.... ARRGGGGHHHH"

"they're coming from inside the house!" geeeze... just get the eff outta there already... hot-wire the car and drive the eff away with the kids... or, perhaps, go into the bedroom with the kids, and call the police... dont run around this beautifully designed lavish mother of a house and trash it by fighting with some dopey child killer that doesnt have a personality... mmm it made not sense much. anyways, the chick was hot so that was okay, and the house was cool... and it had this japanese-y garden this those giant fish ...

oh what a night... la la la... anyways, no, seriously.. it was long and about as action packed as an epi of 24 ... so, chris from work, and i have been planning on seeing brick for like, 3 weekends in a row... and finally it was going to happen!!! so, sarah and i got ready for a night out on the town and missed the train... meh... chris was on that train and waiting in melbourne central... (it will get interesting soon i promise) so, we catch a tram.... the no. 57 @ 11:16 pm ... along racecourse rd etc etc... so, we get on the tram and there's like, 3 or 4 people i know from the video store ... and, its late and people are drinking and being loud and WHAM! punches! kicks! thrashing around! CRAZY! so, the guy goes flying past sarah and i who are standing right next to it all... and, how appropriate that only yesterday that i had watched "a history of violence" (see next post) and all these guys start going donkey kong on everyone.

as they are all kinda breaking it up, the guy in the fight recognises me from the video store.

"oohhhh... video ezy dude right?"

"yeh, that's me... ahaha you a''ight man?" (not really)

"oh, man... oi guys, this guy's a champ. he's always letting me off my late fee's..."

seriously, he was like, smashing some c bombs head in 1 second later he is all hugs and handshakes with me...

after it had calmed down and the hugs and praise finished ... the german guy that was involved was still going on about something, VW's or maybe kranzki's or hilter or whatever, and then some other guys told him to shut up... just calm down and be cool and dont worry... then... some dirty-ish looking italian guy walks up to the 2 somali guys to try and calm them down. saying... "come on.." "take it easy..." yeh, he really wasnt helping... so, then he starts an argument about how he could fight them...

"oh, i could take you guys both on..."

WHAT? seriously... is this guy asking to be effing smashed? racial slurs get you nowhere... we've all watched "crash" (2004) right?

then it really hit the fan... they were like, practically throwing the guy around the effing tram, like it was a cage.. INTENSE! ... so, pretty much everyone except sarah and i and the dum american girls crying and screaming were involved... trying to break up everyone else..

meanwhile all the other guys from the first fight were trying to get off the tram because i guess they had sense... as this was happening, i got taken with them by the scariest hug with a violent stranger i have ever had...

so, i get back on the tram and the guy has rung the police... so, it's about 20 minutes after we have left, and we have travelled about 500 metres. i was freaking out. we werent going to see this movie.

soo.... basically, the police came onto the tram and took everyone that was involved off ... and then we had to give statements.. well, sarah did anyways ... and then we were on our way!

we finally got into the city @ 12.05 am meeting chris at the library ...

so, after our slightly frazzling night already, sarah and i needed to hit the piss and it was great. we went to "cookie" which was a cool place that i always wanted to go to because i thought it was a trendy clothing store...highlight topics of discussion included...

wake up, 4 hours later after some really weird dreams about eating foreign dvds as meals and i walk in to see chris and sarah all snug like a freakin' couple... nearly gagging, i ran to the toilet where i could seek safe haven. had a chat and then a shower.

then i left for work as everyone was happily in bed sleeping all nice and snug. oh, it was so cute.

i was sooo hungry a few nights ago and the result was a $2 half bbq chicken from safeway and a pre-packaged caesar salad... total cost about $5.60 or something... these pictures just document me being a fatso whale with no manners scoffing the whole thing down in about 8 minutes. enjoy!

i can sooo see this a story on today tonight or 60 minutes... "1 man, 1 book ... 1 lifetime - VANISHED" ohhh it's gold. so, he is going to call the boss, who he assumed was a man, after i told him that HER name was ANNIE

movies i have watched...

lost in la mancha ... 4.5 stars... really good.. basically a movie about a movie that never got made. deppy depp and terry gilliam who brought you fear and loathing and brazil, 12 monks etc etc...

hotel rwanda - shouldve been called "hotel no vacancy" ... there's some really good performances in this one... and, yeh... was pretty effing worrying that this happened just over 10 yrs ago!

bringing out the dead- scorsece or something ... it was NY and dark and grimm and nick cage all crazy and snapping out on drugs... it was ok... 2 hrs of my life i could've spent watching something else... maybe ...

x-files!!! - yes, i have started from the v. start.. its sooo nineties and lame... although, the theme song makes me get chills still and i need to look under my bed in case there is a skinny half man running around on a skateboard type device... ready to snatch my kidney out with his bare alien hands.

show me love - oh, this was emo this one. sweddish like, 12 y.o's basically... although, i think they are 15 or 16?? anyways, some girl likes this other girl who's a mean girl and teases her about being a lesbian. anyways, it was made by a fat 21 y.o or something which is prob why i liked it... and, oh, they kissed to that song .... "i wanna know what love is... i want you to show me" !!! fuck! genius. i will be copying that for sure, but, with a spinning stead-cam shot and some soft focus background with fairy lights and shit... anyways, it was a really sweet story and the scripting was really spot on... i feel like an effing milo now though! emo!


OH!!! 24 FINALE! shizen.... they fucking caught him. the shanghai-se! holy shit im a sucker for that show. butler (new nick for housemate steven) tells me i have the exact reaction for every single moment in that show that the producers want. fuck, i was all screaming and yelling and touching poor keifer when he got bashed and shit... oh man.... im getting all dum just thinking about it!! sooooooo cooool!

hate crime!

the other day, i was shopping in MYER for with sarah... now, we were in the basement and i was being the "tag-a-long" guy or whatever you wanna call it... and, it was time for sarah to go to the change room and try on some things...

so, i waited outside like you normally do.. but there were no chairs and i was tired and feeling ugly and miserable and wanted to sit down. so, i thought, oh, i will just go see if sarah needs help or see what she looks like.

"hey, can i go in there?"

"no, you cant actually. sorry"

"oh, no, that's fine..."

when really; no, it's not fine.

because, heres what got me mad... if i was shopping there... with my girlfriend or whatever... she would be let in wouldnt she.

if a guy needed a girl to go in and see what he looked like... they wouldnt stop her would they? probably no. im so effing sick of these stupid standards- they really get up my goat. so, i think i am going to do a little "social experiment" and see what happens.
